Parsing Overview
When a new document instance is loaded into Arbortext Editor, the document structure is analyzed by Arbortext Editor to ensure that the instance complies with its document type. This process is called parsing. In Arbortext Editor, there are two parsers which work, at load time only, to enforce document structure.
One parser is used when opening SGML documents not created in Arbortext Editor. This parser handles the full range of SGML features, and is the parser used in Arbortext Architect.
A second parser is used when opening XML (Xerces parser) or SGML (MarkIt parser) documents saved in Arbortext Editor. This parser makes certain assumptions about the instance and is therefore much faster.
Once a new document has been parsed, you may decide to make your corrections in the current session or in another session. The error messages produced by the original parsing are not viewable again without reloading the document.
