Positioning the Marker for Superscripts and Subscripts
Up Arrow
When you press the up arrow key on the keyboard while the marker is a solid outline, the marker moves from the outlined character to the character's superscript position. A small solid input box appears in the marker, in the superscript position to either the right or left of the original character, depending on the direction the original marker pointed.
For
and
, superscripts are positioned as upper limits, centered at the top of the symbol. (You can shift both the upper and lower limits to the right of the symbol by pressing
F4 when the
marker is on the symbol.)
For fractions, pressing the up arrow key on the keyboard before you enter characters or while the marker is dotted, moves the marker to the numerator.
For matrices, under the same conditions as for fractions, the marker's position moves to the first element in the matrix. A similar effect occurs with all multi-component constructs.
