• Size — Sets the width of the overall table as displayed in the Edit window. This option is only available for tables with at least one proportional width column. This option is disabled if a table consists entirely of fixed width columns.

◦ Display Width — Provides a value and a unit of measure (cm, em, mm, in, pt, pc, pi, px).

◦ Use Default — Sets the display width to the default value, which is normally 100% of the view width. The default table width can be changed using the set tablewidth command.

• Border Width — Controls the baseline width for all the borders in the current table. Enter a value and select a unit of measurement. The default value is 1 point for OASIS Exchange and 0.5 point for Arbortext tables.

• Cell Margins — This option is different depending on the table model you are using.

◦ Left — Sets the distance between the left cell wall and the cell contents.

◦ Right — Sets the distance between the right cell wall and the cell contents.

◦ Top — Sets the distance between the top cell wall and the cell contents.

◦ Bottom — Sets the distance between the bottom cell wall and the cell contents.

◦ Cell Spacing — Sets the distance between cells. This setting is not supported in FOSI published output.

◦ Cell Padding — Sets the space between the center of the cell wall and the cell contents.

• Modify Borders — Opens the Modify Borders dialog box where you can modify the border characteristics of the table, selected cells, or an individual cell.

◦ Fixed — Provide a specific row height for the currently selected cells. Provide a value and unit of measure (cm, em, mm, in, pt, pc, pi, px). In the Edit window, if the content of a cell makes the cell taller than the fixed height, the cell will grow automatically. Once formatted, however, the row will print at its fixed height.

◦ Natural — Select this option to allow the row height to be determined by the height of its content.

◦ Page Break Before Row — Controls where a large table breaks at the end of a page and continues onto the next page. Changes to page breaking are saved as processing instructions, which are typically not compatible with other XML editors. Use the set tableuiextensions command to prevent format settings from being saved as processing instructions.

▪ Default — Follows the page break setting for the element containing the table, as defined in the current stylesheet.

▪ Allow — If the table doesn't fit on one page this option permits the table to break across a page before the current row.

▪ Inhibit — Prevents the table from breaking across a page before the selected row.

▪ Force — Forces the selected row to start on the next page.

◦ Fixed — Provide a specific column width for the currently selected cells. Provide a value and unit of measure (cm, em, mm, in, pt, pc, pi, px).

◦ Proportional — Keeps the column in its current proportion to the total width of the table.

◦ Horizontal — Aligns the contents of the cell along the left and right cell margins. You can choose left, right, centered, justified, or character aligned. If you choose to align the cell contents around a character, you will need to provide one in the Alignment Character field and a percentage value in the Offset from Left Edge of Cell field.

▪ Alignment Character — Provide a character that will be used to align cell content.

▪ Offset from Left Edge of Cell — Provide a percentage value. This setting is not available for the Arbortext table model.

◦ Vertical — Aligns the contents of the cell along the top and bottom cell margins. You can choose top, centered, and right.

◦ Background Color — Choose a background color for the selected cells.

• Modify Cell Font — Opens the Modify Table Cell Font dialog box where you can change the characteristics of the font used in the cells.
