Find Menu Introduction
The Find menu contains commands to find text and markup, replace the found text, and locate bookmarks or a quickmark.
• Find/Replace — Opens the
Find/Replace dialog box, which includes four tabs for searching for items in documents:
◦ Find/Replace
◦ Find Tag/Attribute
◦ Find Entity
◦ Find Processing Instruction
• Go To — Opens the
Go To dialog box
• Find Next — Repeats the last Find operation specified from the current cursor location. The Find Next operation may be based on a Find/Replace dialog box search or a search using one of the following menu items:
◦ Find Selection — a highlighted section of your document.
◦ Find Entity — the last text or file entity specified in the dialog box.
◦ Find Processing Instruction — the last processing instruction specified in the dialog box.
◦ Find Marked Section — the last marked section specified in the dialog box.
• Find Selection — Searches forward from the current cursor location to the next match using the highlighted section in your document as the search string.
• Replace — Replaces matched Find What text with the Replace With text from the Find/Replace dialog box or from the previous substitute command. It then locates the next occurrence of the text string to replace. Replace is disabled if no text is selected or if the selection contains markup from a different find operation.
• Replace All — Replaces all occurrences of the Find What text with the Replace With text from the Find/Replace dialog box or from the previous substitute command. Replace All is disabled if no text is selected or if the selection contains markup from a different find operation.
Arbortext Editor will provide a summary of the replacements that were successful, and those that failed.
• Find Element Start — Moves the cursor to the start tag of the element tag pair containing the cursor.
• Find Element End — Moves the cursor to the end tag of the element tag pair containing the cursor.
In any of these dialog boxes where you can choose to search file entities, you can set a preference to check the
Search File Entities box by default. In the > dialog box, choose the
Edit category and check the box for
Search File Entities on Find.
