Automatically Correcting Spelling Errors
ArbortextEditor supports limited automatic correction of spelling errors as you enter text in a document. When you enter or change a word in a document, the auto correct feature checks that word against a list in the autocorrect.xlf auto correct map file. If a misspelled word is included in the map file, Arbortext Editor automatically replaces that word with the replacement word specified in the file. For example, if you enter wnated, Arbortext Editor will automatically replace that word with the correct spelling wanted.
The auto correct feature only corrects spelling errors in a single word. Following are the types of errors the feature can correct:
• Misspelled words: recrod to record
• Incorrect characters: protege to protégé
• Incorrect contractions: dont to don't
• Words run together: partof to part of
The auto correct feature cannot correct words containing spaces, colons, semicolons, double quotes, and parentheses.
The auto correct feature is on by default. You can turn the feature off either through the
Edit category of the > dialog box or through the
set autocorrect command.
Note that as with regular spell checking, the auto correct feature will
ignore the content of elements that are specified in the
document type configuration file to not be spell checked. This is subject to the setting of the
Ignore tags in configuration list preference in the
Spelling category of the
Preferences dialog box.
Arbortext Editor can support multiple language versions of an autocorrect.xlf file.
