Guidelines for Applying Profiles
Following are guidelines for applying individual profiles:
Any element that applies to all possible readers should not be profiled.
When applying more than one profile within a given profile class to an element, include all profiles that apply. When multiple profiles in a class are applied to an element, the contents of that element will be published if any of the profile values is set.
Applying all profiles in a class to an element has the same effect as applying no profiles to the element. Applying all profiles to an element means that element would apply to all possible readers.
If you apply profiles to a parent element (for example, an entire chapter), all child elements within that chapter inherit the profile information from the chapter. You can apply more restrictive profiling to individual child elements.
If you select a region of text within an element and apply a profile, the profiling is applied to the entire element, not just the highlighted content.
Selecting a text region to apply profiling attributes deletes profile attributes that are applied to elements contained within the parent element.
To view applied profile values, view your document in the Document Map or with full tags on. Applied profiling values appear as values of element attributes.
