• Show — Controls display of preferences common to all of the Arbortext Editor views. Choose any of the following you want displayed on the screen:

◦ Context Tracking — Displays element structure in the status bar for the cursor location (for example: report(body(chapter).

◦ Newlines — When text is part of an element with quadding set to asis in the stylesheet, newlines (carriage returns) are displayed as a hooked arrow. If this option is not enabled, the text appears on a new line but the newline character is omitted.

◦ Spaces and Tabs — Displays a character to represent each space or tab in text content:

▪ Spaces: a dot raised above the baseline

▪ No break spaces: the degree/ring character (°)

▪ Tabs: a right arrow (→)

◦ Synchronized Views — Automatically synchronizes the views displayed in the Arbortext Editor window.

◦ Font Scaling at — Increases or decreases the screen display size of text and tags, subject to the availability of fonts.

• Edit View — Controls display of preferences specific to the Edit view. Choose any of the following you want displayed on the screen:

◦ Attributes — Displays attributes after the tag name in the Edit window.

◦ Comments — Displays comments marked by _comment tags.

◦ Full Justification — Displays text in the Edit window as fully justified (left and right). The setting does not affect the justification of text inside table cells.

◦ Hidden Content — Controls display of hidden document text (text that is defined as such in a stylesheet). For example, when generated text displays endnote text at the end of a chapter, this option hides the endnote text embedded in the paragraph to reference it. You can browse a document to see where generated text is placed during formatting.

◦ Indented Divisions — Displays divisions indented from the left margin of the Edit view according to division level (for example, indenting sections more than chapters).

◦ Object Boundaries — Displays object boundaries around objects such as file entities and XML inclusions that are included in the current document.

◦ Tag Prompts — Displays a tag with no content as a gray box with the tag name on it, when tag display is off (View > No Tags).

◦ Graphics as Icons — Displays a graphic as an icon. This setting improves editing performance in documents that contain many large graphics.

◦ Equations as Icons — Displays an equation as an icon. This setting improves editing performance in documents that contain many equations.

• Document Map — Controls display of preferences specific to the Document Map. Choose any of the following you want displayed on the screen:

◦ Text — Determines how element text is displayed in the Document Map. Select one of the following options:

▪ None — Suppresses the display of text in the Document Map.

▪ Line — Displays text in the Document Map in a single line that does not wrap.

▪ Wrap — Displays text in the Document Map that wraps when the end of a line is reached.

◦ End Tags — Determines how element end tags are displayed in the Document Map. Select one of the following options:

▪ Full — Displays end tag names and icons.

▪ Partial — Displays end tag icons.

▪ None — Suppresses the display of end tags.
