Organizing a Document in Outline View
You can collapse all occurrences of a division element tag pair in your document. This is useful for quickly checking division titles, cutting and pasting divisions, and moving quickly through large documents.
To collapse or expand a division using the menu:
1. Choose View > Collapse/Expand Divisions. The dialog box that opens contains names of markup elements contained in your document type. You can collapse the content of any of the element names listed.
2. Choose an element from the list.
3. Click Collapse. In your document, all occurrences of the tag pairs are collapsed with only their titles displayed. The Cancel button changes to Close.
4. Using the same selection, click Expand, or click on the expand button. The text reappears.
5. Close the dialog box by pressing Close.
To collapse divisions using the toolbar:
The toolbar Collapse/Expand Divisions pulldown list is a quick way to collapse the same division throughout the document.
1. On the toolbar, click the Collapse/Expand Divisions pulldown list arrow (located next to the Collapse/Expand Divisions toolbar button.
2. Click on an element name. All occurrences of the element collapse.
3. Click on the Collapse/Expand Divisions pulldown list again and choose Expand All. The document expands fully, leaving no collapsed divisions.
