Adding Links and Link Targets
Links in documents provide easy navigation to referenced information on the Web and within your document. Link targets are destinations referred to by links.
To Insert Links and Link Targets
Insert links by choosing Insert > Link.
Insert link targets by choosing Insert > Link Target.
*
Use care when inserting and changing links in documents containing file entities. For example, you can create a valid link from a file entity within a document to another location in the document. However, if that file entity is shared to other documents that do not contain the identical link targets, the links in the other documents will be invalid.
To Change Existing Links and Link Targets
To change an existing link, place the cursor within or to the right of the link tag and choose Insert > Link.
To change an existing link target, place the cursor within or to the right of the link target and choose Insert > Link Target.
To Check Links for Errors:
Arbortext Editor validates ID usage in your document, including file entities. Check for errors with links and link targets by choosing Tools > IDs and ID References. Arbortext Editor displays the IDs and ID References dialog box listing all declared or referenced IDs (ID and IDREF attribute values, respectively), with error, warning, and reference-count data. IDs and ID References validates links which use IDs for targets. Some document types, such as HTML, use CDATA attributes for targets. For these document types, IDs and ID References will not find link errors.
