Editing Print Configuration Files
PTC ALD’s print configuration files are small PTC Arbortext Layout Developer documents that contain PTC Arbortext Layout Developer tags. You can open them for edit in PTC Arbortext Layout Developer— Desktop if required. The files contain no pages. Use the > > menu option to display a list of tags contained in the document.
Three types of tag can be included in a print configuration file:
• Document properties
These tags are used to create document properties in the output file. You can add additional properties if required.
• Super print control streams
These tags are used to configure the print and/or formatting process. The control streams are located in the _compose namespace. Edit the control streams to make changes to the print or formatting properties.
• autoexec script
The _compose:autoexec script is executed when PTC ALD calls the print configuration file. It is used to drive the publishing process after the initial formatting pass controlled by the template created from the stylesheet. The script can be edited to change that process, for example to add extra formatting passes, add outputs, or call different super print control streams.
