Creating Objects from Selected Parts of Documents
If user override is enabled in the system-wide burst configuration file, you can create document objects out of selected reusable regions in a document.
Use the following procedure to reuse selected parts of documents:
1. Start Arbortext Editor and connect to your repository using the PTC Server connection.
2. In the Browser, choose Edit to open the document in Arbortext Editor. (Choosing Edit automatically checks out the document.)
3. In the Edit view, select the region of the document from which you would like to create a new object.
The selection must be part of an existing object, and it must not already be an object. The selected region must be balanced with regard to markup. To ensure that you create a new object with content and not just a file entity or XInclude declaration, make sure your selection does not include the object's file entity or XInclude markup.
4. Choose Object > Create Object from Selection to create a new object from the selection.
The Share Properties dialog box is displayed. Enter a name for the object and click the OK button to create the new object. You can also change the folder in which the new object is stored and indicate whether the new object should be checked out for editing in the dialog box.
5. Select any other portions of the document from which you want to create new objects and choose Object > Create Object from Selection to create an object for each of them.
6. Close the document.
