Splitting and Joining Tags
As you create your document, you might need to separate or unite the contents of two adjacent tags with the same structure, such as two paragraphs or two sections. To do so, you need to split or join the tags.
To split a tag into two tags:
1. Place the cursor where you want to separate the contents.
2. From the menu bar, choose Edit > Split tag element, where tag is the name of the tag containing the cursor that will be affected by the split operation.
You can also use the Quick Tags menu or CTRL+J to split tags. When you split a tag, the new tag has the same non-default attribute values as the old tag. Note that any ID attributes are not duplicated.
To join two adjacent tags of the same type:
1. Place the cursor between the two tags.
You can also select the two or more adjacent tags. Note that your selection should completely contain the tags you want to join, and the tags must be of the same type. If your selection only partially covers the selected tags, the join operation might fail.
2. From the menu bar, choose Edit > Join tag elements, where tag is the name of the selected tags that will be affected by the join operation.
The indicated tags unite to become one.
