DITA Map Toolbar
The DITA Map toolbar contains buttons that enable you to move topic references and other movable elements in the hierarchy of a DITA map. The toolbar is only available when you are editing a DITA map. By default, it is docked to the right side of the window, but you can dock the toolbar at other parts of the window or use it as a floating toolbar.
The affected element depends on your current document view:
Column View — The selected element, the element with the cursor, or the element directly above the cursor (if the cursor is on a line), is affected.
Edit View — The selected element, the element containing the cursor, or the element directly before the cursor is affected.
Document Map — The selected element or the element on the same line as the cursor is affected.
If you select an element that has associated child elements, then all of that part of the hierarchy is selected and moved. If you demote or promote an element with child elements, the child elements might also be transformed.
If you attempt to move an element up or down in the map hierarchy to a location where the element is not allowed, Arbortext Editor attempts to transform that element and any child elements into an element that would be legal at that location. For example, if you attempt to move a chapter element in a DITA BookMap below an appendix element, Arbortext Editor transforms the chapter into an appendix. Attempts to promote or demote an element might also change the element's location in the map hierarchy.
The following table describes the DITA Map toolbar buttons.
