Editing Objects in Arbortext Editor
After selecting an object in the Browser, choose Object > Edit or click the Edit button to open that object in Arbortext Editor. Note that the Edit operation will also check out an object, if it is not already checked out. When open in Arbortext Editor, SGML and XML objects can be edited using the full Arbortext Editor feature set.
You can edit an object as you would any stand alone XML or SGML document. However, note the following items when editing objects:
You must remain connected to the PTC Server when editing objects.
As part of checking in an object, Arbortext Editor performs a completeness check of the object.
When editing objects in Arbortext Editor, the following icons are displayed in the Edit view and the Document Map to show the status of the objects:
Icon
Description
Padlock icon
Indicates the object is locked (that is, checked out) by another user.
Key icon
Indicates the object is locked by you.
Object icon
Indicates the object is not locked by anyone.
Plus sign icon
Indicates the object has been modified either in Arbortext Editor or on the server since the last check out.
Star icon
Indicates the object is new in the active workspace.
Clock icon
Indicates the object is out of date in the active workspace. Usually, this means a newer version of the object now exists.
