Creating Graphic Entities
You must create a graphic entity before you can reference it in your document.
1. To create a graphic entity, choose Entities > Graphic.
The Graphic Entities dialog box appears.
2. Click on the New button to open the New graphic entity dialog box.
3. The New graphic entity dialog box contains the following fields:
Name — provide a name for your graphic entity.
File nameprovide the path and file name for the graphics file. You can click on the Browse button to open the Locate Graphic file to Reference dialog box. These names appear as selections in the Graphic Entities dialog box.
Public ID — Use a name agreed upon among users to identify a file that is known to different systems, but can exist in different places on different systems. If you supply a public ID, Arbortext Editor attempts to match the name to an actual path name by searching all catalog files in the current catalog path list. Click on the Browse button to open the Public ID dialog box.
If both a path name and a public ID are provided, Arbortext Editor will use the public ID.
4. Click on Notation and choose an appropriate notation:
*
The notation selected must match the graphic file format to be read. It also must be a notation that your document type recognizes.
If you need to create a new notation, click on the New button to open the New notation dialog box. See Creating a graphics application notation for more information.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Close.
