Queuing Requests
If the Arbortext PE server offers queuing, the publishing choices available from the File > Publish menu can display a Queue Transaction check box in the publishing dialog box. A publishing request that is queued on the Arbortext PE server is called a transaction. These transactions are serviced according to how queuing is configured on the server.
After submitting a queued publishing request, you can view a list of transactions you've previously submitted using the Queued Transactions, available from Tools > Queued Transactions. This list can also be automatically displayed after sending a queued request if you choose that option in Arbortext Publishing Engine.
Your ability to view, set or change Queue Transaction depends on the following:
The check box will be hidden if Arbortext Publishing Engine publishing is not enabled.
If the Arbortext PE server requires queuing, the Queue Transaction check box will be checked but unavailable. You can't change it and all requests will be queued automatically.
If the Arbortext PE server forbids queuing, the check box will be cleared but unavailable. You can't change it and all results will be returned as soon as possible (depending on how busy the server is, network traffic, and so on).
If the Arbortext PE server allows Arbortext Editor users to choose whether to queue a specific request, the check box will reflect whether the Queue publishing transactions preference is checked in the Publishing Engine panel of the Preferences window. You can change it, and your selection will persist to the next publishing request.
Transaction Name is available whenever Queue Transaction is available. You can assign a descriptive name for a queued transaction to provide a readable description for the published document.
You can also configure queued transaction names from the Publishing Engine panel of the Preferences window by choosing Queued Transaction Names. Refer to the Queued Transaction Names Dialog Box for more information.
The behavior of Save As or Output Directory fields and View check boxes in the publishing dialog boxes depends on whether the Queue Transaction check box is checked or cleared. Choosing Queue Transaction means that you will be prompted for the Save As and View fields when the transaction result is retrieved. When the Queue Transaction check box is checked, the Save As or Output Directory fields and View check boxes will be disabled and their values will be cleared. If you entered values in the these fields, they will be displayed again if the Queue Transaction check box is cleared.
Information about setting queuing preferences is available in Arbortext Publishing Engine.
