Inserting and Modifying DITA Content References
To insert a DITA content reference:
1. Select an element in your document to use as the container for a content reference.
You can use a new or existing element. The content reference is inserted in the selected element or in the element containing the cursor. If the cursor is not inside of an element, Arbortext Editor creates a new, empty element in your document for the content reference.
2. Select > .
The Resource Manager appears with the Content Reference tab active.
3. Use the Resource Manager browser to locate the document and element you want to use for the content reference.
The Resource Manager browser enables you to view the elements inside of a document and to filter the browser view to display just the elements in which you are interested.
4. Highlight the element you want to use for the content reference in the browser and select the Insert button.
The content reference is inserted into your document. Any existing content in the referencing element is replaced by the content in the referenced element. The original content is still in the document and can be edited, but you cannot see that content.
To modify a DITA content reference:
1. Select the element in your document for which you want to modify the content reference.
2. Select > .
The Modify Attributes dialog box appears.
3. Select the
Browse button
next to the
conref attribute.
The Resource Manager appears with Content Reference tab for modifying attributes active.
4. Use the Resource Manager browser to locate the document and element you want to use to modify the content reference.
5. Highlight the element you want to use to modify the content reference in the browser and select the Modify button.
The Resource Manager disappears, and the conref attribute value is changed to the new reference.
6. Select OK to close the Modify Attributes dialog box.
