Creating a Baseline
A baseline is essentially a snapshot of a document object at a specific point in time. The PTC Server connection enables you to create a baseline for either a new object you are adding to the PTC Server or an existing object you are checking in. The baseline will include the object and any dependent objects. Your system administrator must enable the creation of baselines in the siteprefs.xml configuration file before you can perform this operation. You cannot create a baseline for objects stored in Windchill ProjectLink.
You can create a baseline in the following ways.
1. Follow these steps to create a baseline for a new PTC Server object:
a. Open the object in Arbortext Editor.
b. Choose File > Save As Server Object.
The Save As Properties dialog box opens.
c. If necessary, enter the name and folder for the new object.
d. Select the Create baseline option.
The next two options are enabled.
e. If necessary, enter the name and folder for the new baseline.
f. Click OK to close the dialog box.
The object and any dependant objects are saved to the PTC Server and added to the new baseline.
2. Follow these steps to create a baseline for a checked out PTC Server object:
a. Check out the object in Arbortext Editor and edit it as needed.
b. Choose Object > Check In Object.
The Check In dialog box opens.
c. If desired, enter any check in comments.
d. Select the Create baseline option.
The next two options are enabled.
e. If necessary, enter the name and folder for the new baseline.
f. Click OK to close the dialog box.
The object and any dependant objects are checked in to the PTC Server and added to the new baseline.
