Maintaining Customized and Specialized DITA Document Types
The best practice when making customizations to the default DITA document types, or when adding or updating new DITA specializations, is to maintain common .dcf, .pcf, .style, and repository adapter document-type-specific burst configuration files for all of the following types that make up a family of related document types:
DITA topics
DITA maps
DITA Ditabases
rdedit and any custom-rdedit types
rdstyle and any custom-rdstyle types
