The com.arbortext.e3.tempFileDirectory specifies where Arbortext Publishing Engine creates temporary files.

By default, Arbortext Publishing Engine assumes the location of java.io.tmpdir, which is a JVM system property. You can determine this location by clicking the Java Properties link on the Arbortext Publishing Engine index page. You can also view the location by clicking the Status link on the Arbortext Publishing Engine index page (refer to Monitoring and Reporting Using a Web Browser for information). This parameter is not explicitly set in e3config.xml. You shouldn't need to change the value.

The parameter values for com.arbortext.e3.transactionDirectory (described in The Global Active Transaction Parameters) and com.arbortext.e3.transactionArchiveDirectory (described in The Global Transaction Archive Parameters) are appended to this value.
