New Topic Tab for Modifying Attributes
The New Topic tab for modifying attributes enables you to modify a topic reference in a DITA map with a reference to a new topic. You invoke the Resource Manager for modifying attributes from the Modify Attributes dialog box, the Document Map, and Column view. When you are modifying a topic reference, you invoke the Resource Manager by selecting the Browse button This is an image of a gray square with three periods on it. next to the href attribute. In this case, the Resource Manager appears with the Topic tab for modifying attributes active. You can change to the New Topic tab by selecting the tab.
The New Topic tab for modifying attributes contains the following options:
Document Type — Determines the type of DITA topic to create.
Select the type of topic you want to create from the list. The topic types that are displayed in the list are determined by a setting in the document type configuration file (.dcf) for the DITA map or specialized map that you are editing.
Sample — Determines whether the sample document for the selected topic type is used to create the new topic.
By default, the template document is used to create a new topic. Select this option if you want the sample document to be used instead.
Title — Determines the title for the new topic.
You must enter a title for the new topic.
Folder — Determines the folder in which the new topic is created.
The default folder is the current document directory. You can enter the path to a different directory in this field. You can also select the Browse for Folder button This is an image of a gray square with three periods on it. to invoke the Browse for Folder dialog box. This dialog box enables you to browse for an existing folder or create a new folder.
File Name — Determines the file name for the new topic.
The Resource Manager creates a default file name for the topic based on the topic's title. You can enter a different file name.
ID — Determines the ID for the new topic.
The Resource Manager creates a default ID for the topic based on the topic's title. If enabled in the document type configuration file (.dcf), you can enter a different ID.

The ID option is hidden by default. To display the option, set the ditahideids advanced preference to off.
Keyref — Enables you to optionally enter a key name to insert in the keyref attribute for the reference.
Use this option when you want to add a key reference to the reference you are modifying. The setting of the ditakeyrefui advanced preference determines whether this option is available in the Resource Manager.
Modify button — Replaces the current topic reference in your document with a reference to the new topic.
