Importing Documents with Arbortext Import
Use the following procedure to import documents using Arbortext Import.
1. Choose File > Import > Import a Document. The Select a Document to Import dialog box appears.
2. Browse to the document you wish to import. Arbortext Import/Export imports the formats listed in Arbortext Import/Export Overview.
3. In Output File, specify a name and location for the file in its imported XML form. If you don't specify a path, the imported XML file will be stored in the same directory as the file being imported.
4. In Map Template, specify the import MapTemplate to use when importing the file. MapTemplates relate content and structures in your source file type to XML structures. MapTemplates are typically site-specific and stored on the Arbortext Publishing Engine server. Sample Map Templates for several formats are stored in the following directory:
Arbortext-path\lib\importexport\data\STDTemplates
For information on creating import MapTemplates, refer to the Reference Guide to Arbortext Import.
5. Optionally, check Generate Log File to create a file containing informational messages when you import the file. The log file will be stored in the same directory as the imported XML file and will have a file name beginning with the same characters as the imported XML file. Choosing Enable Map Comments includes any comments specified by the Map Template developer inthe imported document. This feature is typically used only while developing Map Templates.
6. Click Import to import the document. A progress window will inform you of the import status. When the document has been imported, the resulting XML file will be displayed in Arbortext Editor.
