Dialog Boxes
Certain dialog boxes present in, or invoked from, the PTC ALD Preview window provide information about the preview process and the document being previewed:
Cancel Formatting Dialog Box
This dialog box appears when you click the Abort button in the Publishing to PDF dialog box. It provides a yes/no option for you to confirm that you want to terminate the creation of a document preview in the PTC ALD Preview window, for example if it is clear that the Generate Preview task has entered an infinite loop.
Go To Page Dialog Box
This dialog box appears when you select the Go To Page option in the PTC ALD Preview window, by choosing the > > menu option. It provides a field in which you can type the number of the page you would like to see displayed in the window.
Find Dialog Box
This dialog box appears when you select the
Find option in the
PTC ALD Preview window, either by choosing the > menu option, or clicking the
Find toolbar button
. It provides several fields in which you can configure a text search for the document displayed in the Preview window:
• Find What: enter the text string for which you would like to search. The term will be held in memory until you close the Preview window, allowing you to select it again in the same preview session if you wish.
• Match Whole Word Only: select this option if you wish to find only the entire word that matches the text listed in the Find What field. For example, a search for the will flag only the and will ignore theatre.
• Match Case: select this option if you wish to make the search case-sensitive. For example, a search for XML will only flag XML, and will ignore xml or Xml
• Search Up: select this option if you wish to search from the bottom up in the document.
• Find Next: click to find the next occurrence of the matched search term in the previewed document. the search will continue downwards through the document by default; if you have selected the Search Up option, however, the search will proceed towards the top of the document.
The find process will automatically restart from the beginning of the document when it reaches the end.
File Save Error Dialog Box
This dialog box appears when you attempt to save an PTC ALD file using the Save As dialog box, if the file cannot be saved with the supplied file name. The following situations could cause a file save error if you are trying to overwrite an existing document:
• The document is read-only
• The document is already in use by another application
• The document is locked for edit
Text Properties Dialog Box
This dialog box appears if you select Text Properties from the mouse shortcut menu you see when right clicking on the previewed document. It confirms the current values for certain properties, for the text that immediately follows the current cursor position.
• Font size: text height, as configured in the stylesheet for the document
• Line spacing: line height, as configured in the stylesheet for the document
• Font: active font
If the font for this character is defined via a combined font, this field will display the active font set for a character of this type in the combined font. If the font applied in the stylesheet for this character, either by standard means or via a combined font, is not available, the field will show details of the substitute font applied by the publishing process.

• Font Weight: current font weight
• Font Style: current font style
• Colour: current font color
• Character: selected character, plus decimal and hexadecimal code numeration
Block Properties Dialog Box
This dialog box appears if you select Block Properties from the mouse shortcut menu you see when right clicking on the previewed document. It confirms the current values for certain properties, for the block that is active immediately following the current cursor position.
Page Properties Dialog Box
This dialog box appears if you select Page Properties from the mouse shortcut menu you see when right clicking on the previewed document. It confirms the current values for certain properties, for the current page.
Graphic Properties Dialog Box
This dialog box appears if you select Page Properties from the mouse shortcut menu you see when right clicking on the previewed document. It confirms the current values for certain properties, for the graphic that appears immediately after the current cursor position.
