Links in a PDF File
Once you have published a PDF file, you can display it in a viewing application (typically, Adobe Acrobat Reader). Link behavior is determined by the stylesheet.
Following is a description of common PDF link behavior within a viewing application.
• Table of contents entries — Each section title and the page number is linked to the page on which the topic appears.
• Cross references — The cross-reference is linked to the page on which the cross-referenced element appears.
• Index entries
◦ Single page references: The entire index entry is linked to the corresponding page.
◦ Multiple page references: Each page number is linked to its corresponding page.
◦ Consecutive page ranges (for example, 5–11): The beginning and ending page numbers are linked to the corresponding pages.
◦ Tagged page ranges: These are entries that are specified using starting and ending tags. The beginning and ending page numbers are linked to the corresponding pages.
