Viewing DITA Content References
If the document type configuration file (.dcf) for a document type has an assigned value for the ditaConrefAttribute attribute in the Options element, the View > Content References menu item is available.
To view a DITA content reference:
1. Select View > Content references.
When this menu choice is checked, the content from the reference is displayed as content in the document. If the menu choice is unchecked, the content is not displayed. Note that even if the content is not displayed in Arbortext Editor, it will be included in any published output. If the referenced file does not exist or cannot be accessed, an error message is displayed and any existing content in the referencing element is displayed in the document.
To change the color of content reference text:
1. Select Tools > Preferences menu.
2. Select the Colors category.
3. Change the color for Generated Text to the color of your choice.
The color for content references, and all other generated text, will be affected by this change.

You cannot edit the content viewed in a content reference. You must make any desired changes in the source document for the reference.
