Comparing PTC Server Documents
The PTC Server connection enables you to select a previous version of a document on the PTC Server to compare with the current version of the document open in Arbortext Editor. You must be connected to a PTC Server using the PTC Server connection and editing a document opened from the PTC Server to use this feature.
Note that full menus must be turned on to see the Compare menu choices. Go to Tools > Preferences, choose the Window category, and check Full Menus to turn on full menus.
Follow these steps to compare a document version stored on a PTC Server to the current document:
1. Choose Tools > Compare > Version.
If there are previous versions of the document available, the Version to Compare dialog box opens.
2. On the Version to Compare dialog box, select the document version in the table that you want to compare to the current version of the document open in Arbortext Editor and click OK.
If the current document is checked out, the latest version also appears in the table enabling you to compare any changes made since the last check in. Note that a version might not be available, depending on how your workspace is configured.
If there are no differences, a message window tells you no differences were found. Otherwise, the Compare with version: version window appears, showing the differences between the two documents.
When the Compare with version: version window appears, the differences in the two selections are highlighted by tags such as Insert and Delete. You can navigate the differences in the Compare with version: version document by using the Next Change and Previous Change items on the Find menu. You can also use the keyboard shortcut F11 for Next Change and F12 for Previous Change.
You can print the results with Print Editor View (unformatted) or Print (which will not include attribute changes in the printed output regardless of the Show Attribute Changes preference setting).
