Select Reference Dialog Box
This dialog box enables you to select the reference to use when opening a referenced document from a DITA topic or map. The following elements can contain multiple references (for example, in the href and keyref attributes):
topicref
xref
link
image
In these cases, it is not clear which referenced document should be opened. When multiple references exist in one of these elements and you double-click on the element or choose the Open Reference choice from either the File or shortcut menu, this dialog box opens.
The Select Reference dialog box contains two or more of the following options:
keyref — Provides the path to the reference defined for the element’s keyref attribute.
If referenced object is on the file system, the path is the absolute path to the object. If the object is in a content management system (CMS), the path is either the CMS object name or the Logical ID. Note that if you hover the cursor over the file path, the entire path appears in a tooltip.
href — Provides the path to the reference defined for the element’s href attribute.
conref — Provides the path to the reference defined for the element’s conref attribute.
For content references, the path includes the target of the content reference inside of the referenced document.
conkeyref — Provides the path to the reference defined for the element’s conkeyref attribute.
Select the reference that you want to open and click OK to open the referenced object.
Only the reference attributes that have been defined for the selected element appear in the dialog box. If the current document is using an alias map that specifies different names for these attributes, the alias names appear.
If the keyref and href attributes reference the same object, only the href appears in the dialog box. If the conref and conkeyref attributes reference the same object, only the conref appears in the dialog box.
If a keyref attribute is present, it is selected by default. Otherwise, the default selection will be the href, conref, and conkeyref attributes in that order.
