Use Synchronize Views when Auto Synchronize is turned off. It is not necessary to have a side-by-side split window to synchronize views. Synchronize Views works with a top-bottom split window as well as a side-by-side split window.

To synchronize views when Auto Synchronize is turned off, choose View > Synchronize Views.

Alternately, click on an element name in the Document Map or Column view if you have one of these views in a split window with the Edit view.
