Text Import Strategies
Use the strategies below to make the best use of the text import feature.
Remember that you are trying to match three items: a cursor location in the document in the Edit window, an element name from the Element Viewer, and a block of text from the Import Text window .
Learn the keyboard shortcuts for the Element Viewer and the Import Text window. Using them (as opposed to choosing menu options) will speed up your work dramatically.
Learn to switch between Line Hi-lite and Paragraph Hi-lite selection mode. Depending on the structure of your text file, you may be able to save a great deal of time by switching between these modes as you import the text file.
If necessary, edit the text file before starting to paste it into the destination document. For example, if your text file includes graphic characters or other characters you do not with to retain, it will save you time to remove such content before pasting the file into your document.
