APTIXLANG — Specifying an Index Language
If set, provides the language for the control files used to sort an index. The name of the replacement sort order language must be an entry in an ixlang.cf file.

APTIXLANG has no effect when a .style file is in use. The language must be set in the .style file. See the Arbortext Styler online help for more information on setting the language for indexes in .style files.

If the name of the language is not recognized, the system default language will be used.
The default path is Arbortext-path\lib\ixlang.
To create a custom ixlang.cf, copy the default file from the Arbortext-path\lib\ixlang directory and modify it.
If you want to make ixlang.cf automatically available, use the Arbortext-path\custom\lib\ixlang directory to load it automatically upon startup. If you create a custom file for a particular locale, you can put it the appropriate locale-name subdirectory of Arbortext-path\custom\lib (such as in jpn for Japanese).
You can also use the APTIXLANG environment variable to specify Greek (gre) or Cyrillic (rus) letters for second-level alphabetic enumerated lists. To do this, type $APTIXLANG="gre" or $APTIXLANG="rus" on the Arbortext Editor command line or add this line to an ACL command file that is sourced before creating generated text. Once you do this, Greek or Cyrillic letters will display for second-level alphabetic enumerated list items.

Using APTIXLANG to specify Greek or Cyrillic counters will also change indexing collation and headings to Greek or Cyrillic. If you don't want to change the language for indexing collation and headings, use a userulehook function to change APTIXLANG locally for the index.
