The APTFMTLQUADRELFACTOR environment variable controls how characters fill text lines when quadding (justification) is set left. It works best when used to correctly format CJK output.

When lastquad is relative (that is, when quadding in the Style panel is set to relative), the value of this variable affects all justification and spacing in an entire document. If in the same document, you wanted to have ragged text, you could use a lastquad which is not set to relative, such as quad=left or lastquad=left. With lastquad=left, APTFMTLQUADRELFACTOR has no effect.
