Arbortext Publishing Engine includes a packaged installation of the PTC Arbortext Layout Developer print engine and associated support files, including the Perl release needed to support the PTC ALD print engine functionality. This installation does not require additional licensing. Perl 5.8 is included and provides perl58.dll in the directory PE_HOME\app\perl64\bin.

If you want to specify the location of an alternative Perl installation, use the environment variable APTAPPPERL to set the path to the root folder of your Perl installation. This directory must have a \bin subdirectory containing the Perl perl58.dll library file.
