Thesaurus Dialog Box
Provides definitions for a selected word or phrase, and supports extended look-up for all related terms appearing in the dialog box. This dialog box contains the following components:
• Looked up: — The word whose definition currently appears in the Definitions: box. The dropdown list contains an ordered list of all the words whose definitions have been displayed while the dialog box has been open.
• Definitions: — A list of all available definitions for the word displayed in Looked up:. The English language dictionary also specifies the part of speech for each definition.
• Synonym — Choose this option to display a list of words with the same meaning as the word in the box under Replace With:. This is the default replacement type. This option is dimmed if no synonyms are available.
• Compared — Choose this option to display a list of terms that have may be regarded in a “See-also” relationship with the current term. This option is dimmed if no compared terms are available.
• Related — Choose this option to display a list of words related to but not synonymous to the word displayed in Looked up:. This option is dimmed if no related words are available.
• Contrast — Choose this option to display a list of words contrasting to but not opposite in meaning to the word displayed in Looked up:. This option is dimmed if no contrasting words are available.
• Antonym — Choose this option to display a list of words opposite in meaning from the word displayed in Looked up:This option is dimmed if no antonyms are available.
• Suggestion — When no word in the document was highlighted, or the looked up word is not in the thesaurus, this option displays a list of possibly-related words to look up.
• Replace With: — The word or phrase that replaces the highlighted selection in the document when the Replace button is clicked. The default is the first listed option for the current replacement type. You can also edit or completely replace the word or phrase in this box.
• Look Up — Use this feature to display the definition and replacement type options for the highlighted word in the Replace With: list.
• Replace — Clicking this option replaces the highlighted word in the document with the word or phrase in the Replace With: box.
• Previous — changes the word in Looked up: to the last referenced word in the current dialog box session, and also changes all definitions and replacement options.
