Installing Arbortext Editor
Overview
This release updates an existing Arbortext Editor installation. It can also be installed standalone. Install the release on all client workstations running Arbortext Editor.
This deliverable is provided:
MED-71692–CD-071_M021_Win64.zip — Installs Arbortext Editor 7.1 M021 (64-bit).
If your current installation has been customized using environment variables or custom scripts or applications, you will need to migrate these customizations if you have installed this version of Arbortext Editor as an update. For more information, see Migrating Customizations and Post-Installation Upgrade Tasks.
Installation
Use the standard Arbortext Editor installation procedure to install 7.1 M021 on workstations running Arbortext Editor.

1. Start the Arbortext Editorsetup program.
Unzip the file containing the release to the required location:
temporary directory on your local system (for example, C:\Temp)
network drive location
Locate windows\setup.exe by selecting Run from the Start menu and browsing to the directory where you unzipped the release.
Run setup.exe.
2. Select the language for your installation and click OK.
3. The setup program displays a welcome dialog box.
Click Next to continue.
4. Accept the license agreement at the prompt.
Click Accept to continue.
5. Select the products to install and indicate whether you would like to create desktop icons for them.
Click Next to continue.
6. Choose whether to make an association for the supported file types, for example DITA documents and ACL files.
Click Next to continue.
7. Select the localized documentation to include in the Arbortext Help Center.
Click Next to continue.
8. Specify an installation folder. You can accept the default location or select Change to specify a different location.
Click Next to continue.
9. Select a setup type for the installation:
Typical — installs the Technical Information Application and PTC Server connection features. For an Arbortext Editor with Styler installation, also installs the Print Composer and Web/Wireless Composer options.
Complete — installs all optional features
Custom — opens the Custom Setup dialog box, where you can select the features you want to install
Click Next to continue.
10. Specify if you will be using Arbortext Publishing Engine for publishing. Enter the URL for your Arbortext Publishing Engine server in this format:
http://servername:portnumber/e3/servlet/e3
Click Next to continue.
11. Click Install to proceed with the installation.
The setup program displays the status of the installation and indicates when installation is complete.
