An Arbortext installation that includes Arbortext Styler or Arbortext Publishing Engine also includes a packaged installation of the APP print engine and associated support files, plus the Perl release needed to support the APP print engine functionality. This installation does not require additional licensing. The installed Perl DLL perl58.dll, installed to the directory Arbortext-path/app/perl/bin, provides Perl release 5.8, which is necessary to support this installation.

You may prefer to specify the location of an alternative Perl installation to that supplied with your Arbortext environment. Please use the environment variable APTAPPPERL to define the path to the root folder of the desired Perl installation. Note that this directory must contain a \bin subdirectory containing the Perl version 5.8 DLL perl58.dll.

Note that an installation of Arbortext without Arbortext Styler or Arbortext Publishing Engine does not include APP.
