ALD Workspaces
Introduction to Workspaces
Many ALD users work on numerous projects or use different system configurations or settings. Switching between these configurations is often hard work, requiring copies of system files to be moved around. The idea behind Workspaces in ALD is to provide a way to easily save, load and distribute sets of system configurations. Therefore, a Workspace in ALD can be considered as a collection of ‘swappable’ and ‘runnable’ system files.
In order to use Workspaces, some menu and user interface components are provided along with macros and JavaScript commands. This chapter will describe how to create and use Workspaces along with the supported system configuration files which will get created and loaded for each Workspace.
Workspaces are created by ‘saving’ the current settings to a Workspace folder. When a new Workspace is loaded, all relevant settings in ALD (i.e. those which can be set and unset by Workspaces) are cleared and the new settings applied from the Workspace files. Additional files are provided to allow other JavaScript commands to be executed when loading and unloading Workspaces.
