Introduction to ALD’s Custom Folders
Solutions built on ALD often require custom system files and libraries which, if put into the system folder, pollute other solutions. ALD has an ‘application bundle’ system which can provide some custom folder support, but a more simple approach was needed. APP V11 M040 provides just that in the shape of a new system file — scustom_paths.3ad.
The purpose of this file is to list up to 10 different paths which ALD should look in before the install path for any requested file. So, if you want a custom sunipair.3ad file, you can put it somewhere outside your install path and load it from there. You can use this file to replace any number of system files and it can also be used to replace individual library files.
The scustom_paths.3ad file is only read when ALD is started. Then, whenever ALD looks for a file which has a path which contains the install path, ALD will look in each of the custom paths first before the install path. The order the paths are listed in the file is the order the paths are checked. The first file found is the one which is used.
