Customizing the Interface
A user can elect to display all windows simultaneously as shown in the window below or nominate areas to be hidden from view via the wct macro or the View > Window Parts menu option.
1. WYSIWYG view
2. Yellow bar
3. Blue bar
4. Toolbars
5. Macro bar
Individual users can customize the look of their PTC ALD interface depending on personal preference and indeed can set options for multiple screen views if they wish - these settings can be exported to an external file, as a default the spref.3ad system file, and saved for future reference, then loaded as required. Within this customization, the individual windows and bars can receive specific settings as to size, the information they should display, what actions to take when ALD is set to a specific operating mode, and so on.
Preferences for the display of items in the interface are set via the wsm and wdpref macros, or by accessing the File > Preferences > Interface menu option. Here you can specify a range of options:
Show macros: show or hide macro names as supplementary information to the options in the PTC ALD menus, toolbars and dialog boxes
Dialog boxes: set size and position data for the display of dialog boxes
Fonts: set general font size and smoothing preferences
Colors: allocate some basic color preferences for your interface view
Cursor focus: give instructions for the position of your cursor
Keys: define keyboard behavior and set some requests for including keyboard shortcuts
Misc: set some miscellaneous general preferences for the treatment of frames and text
Each area of the interface will be described separately in the following sections.
