Finding a Serial Number
If you know the serial number for a product, you can find the information structure for that serial number and go directly to it. Follow these steps to find a serial number:
1. Click in the SN, Product Name box at the top of the interface:
2. Enter the serial number in the box.
As you enter the number, PTC Arbortext Content Delivery displays both displays both past search History and Suggestions from the products contained in the hierarchy. The place in the product hierarchy above the suggestion is displayed in brackets after the suggestion:
This helps you determine which serial number to open when the same product is located in more than one area of the hierarchy.
PTC Arbortext Content Delivery also enables you to submit a partial through the Search For option in the suggestions:
3. Click on one of the serial number suggestions to open the available content for that serial number.
You can also continue to type the number and press ENTER. If what you enter matches a serial number, then that number’s content opens in the hierarchy.
If what you enter does not match a known serial number, PTC Arbortext Content Delivery displays the Product Not Found window:
Use the Product option on this window to associate the serial number with the right product.
When you open the available content for a specific serial number, PTC Arbortext Content Delivery turns on filtering to display just the content that applies to that serial number:
Click on the information icon to display the Product Instance Information page for that serial number. This page contains the parts and other information that apply specifically to the releases of that serial number. Click the print icon on the page to print the product instance information.
The Price and Availability option is now added to the information icon. Clicking the icon will enable the Price and Availability information for BOM as well as for part search results, as shown in the following image:
*
This will be visible only when data has been loaded by enabling BOM from the Configurator UI.
You can view the Price and Availability icon and information on the BOM flyout only when you have the Display Pricing and Availability on BOM, PartsList and Carts preference set to True in the PTC Arbortext Content Delivery administrator Preferences utility. If the preference is set to False, you would not be able to see the Price and Availability icon and information on the BOM flyout.
PTC Arbortext Content Delivery now provides the ability to use the same SN for different product or models. For more information, see the Using BOM with Serial Number and Context ID Combinations section in the TAL a Bill of Material (BOM) Bundle topic in the Publishing and Loading section of the PTC Arbortext Content Delivery Administration Help Center.
Mobile Touch Interface
A few UI changes are made to support the mobile view as follows:
Part name, part description details and serial number can be extended up to three rows and thereafter it shows ellipsis (...) for the truncated text.
If a graphic is present within the flyout, it is adjusted within the mobile screen and is center aligned.
All the superseded, cross reference, alternate, and so on links are not visible as text link on the flyout.
For part relations links related information, a link icon () is shown next to the icon. If the part relations links are present, a drop-down list box is displayed to navigate to that particular information, based on the available relations.
