Monolithic
A monolithic configuration consists of an installation where all the components of the architecture are present on the same operating system and hardware. Both Publisher and Viewer functions would be performed on this one server.
This configuration is common for very small installations and environments that support development and testing efforts. PTC does not typically recommend this configuration for customers who have more than 100 named users accessing the system. PTC also recommends that monolithic solutions are only maintained within corporate intranets.
