Customizing Languages and Locales
PTC Arbortext Content Delivery allows end users to select the language in which they want to view the UI via a menu in the global actions area at the top right of the screen. This setting primarily controls the language in which the software is displayed. However, it also controls the language in which service information is displayed as the user navigates through the information structures.
As the user changes their selected language, PTC Arbortext Content Delivery keeps track of their selection in a “most-recently-used” list that is used in a fallback mechanism to obtain translated service information content. When PTC Arbortext Content Delivery retrieves the information, it looks for the translation that exactly matches the selected language locale. If there is no translated content that matches that locale, PTC Arbortext Content Delivery will fall back to the next language locale in the list of the user’s most recently used locales, and attempt to retrieve that translation. This continues until a match is found, or until there are no matches for the first six languages in the list. If no matches are found, then the default content is retrieved in the original authored language.
For service documents (for example, PDF and XML content), there is an additional language selection menu available in the footer area that allows the user to view the document in other available translations. The list of languages displayed to the user is based on the actual translations available in the system for that particular document.
