Web.Link has been repackaged

The Web.Link feature of Pro/ENGINEER is now part of the Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX) instead of the Design Management Extension (DMX), which has been discontinued. If you have the discontinued DMX, this means you will experience some inconvenience, but we hope the change offers you some new opportunities as well.

DMX users will retain the Web.Link feature. In addition, the feature has been changed from a locked to a floating option at no extra charge, making it more accessible from different workstations. Because of this change, DMX users will need to call the PTC license management group to reactivate their licenses. In the United States, that number is (800) 477-6435.

We apologize for this inconvenience, but we hope that you enjoy the use of the floating option. If you are a current user of AAX, you will automatically get the Web.Link feature at no charge and with no additional action required.

The following summarizes changes due to the repackaging:

If you have questions or need more information on Web.Link, call your PTC sales representative.

What is Web.Link?

Web.Link is a Pro/ENGINEER feature that lets you interact with Pro/ENGINEER through a Netscape browser. With this feature, you can create a customized Web page, which you can then use to automate and streamline aspects of your engineering process. For instance, an engineer can use Web.Link to easily configure the assembly of a car by selecting options-paint color, tire size, suspension-directly from the Web page. Web.Link will update the assembly automatically.

Web.Link extends the capabilities of the Netscape browser so it can communicate with Pro/ENGINEER. A tool that allows programmers to reference all Web.Link application programming interfaces (APIs) runs inside the Netscape browser. With this referencing capability and a basic knowledge of HTML and JavaScript, users can rapidly construct Web pages.

Web.Link Capabilities

Web.Link gives you access to the Pro/ENGINEER functionality listed below.

The DMX option contained Web.Link, Pro/INTRALINK, Pro/ENGINEER HUMAN FACTORS LIBRARY, and Pro/ENGINEER BASIC LIBRARY. With the discontinuation of this option, the following repackaging has occurred: Pro/INTRALINK is now available through the Pro/INTRALINK Workgroup Manager; Pro/ENGINEER BASIC LIBRARY is now available through Pro/ENGINEER Foundation; and Pro/ENGINEER HUMAN FACTORS LIBRARY has been discontinued.
