Managing Part Associations in Impacted By Tab
You can add or remove associations of parts or part subtypes related to an object in a service structure in the Impacted By tab.
Add Association
Click to open the Associate Part dialog box where you can search and associate parts or part subtypes to a selected object in a service structure. When you add associations to a service object, a new iteration is created. This helps to trace the changes made to the associations.
When you select multiple objects in a service structure, the table under Impacted By tab displays associated parts information of the first object only. The attributes and details of the selected object is displayed above the table.
You cannot associate parts lists to any object in a service structure and index or table of contents to any objects in a Publication Structure.
The Associate Part dialog box contains the following actions:
Search On — Displays a list of part and part subtypes. The available options depend on the object selected in a service structure.
Number —You can enter a number, or partial number, to filter the resulting list of parts or part subtypes.
*
You can use wildcards to enlarge your search. For more information, see Using Wildcards.
Name — You can enter a name, or partial name, to filter the resulting list of parts or part subtypes.
*
You can use wildcards to enlarge your search. For more information, see Using Wildcards.
Click Clear to clear the contents of the Search On, Number, and Name fields.
After setting the options as desired, click Search. The table in the window lists the parts or part subtypes that match your search criteria.
Select one or more parts or part subtypes in the table and click OK. The parts are associated to the selected object in a service structure and displayed in the table under Impacted By tab.
Click Cancel to call off all selections and close the dialog box.
Remove Association
Click to remove the association of one or multiple selected parts or part subtypes from an object in a service structure. When the association is removed, the table under Impacted By tab is updated to display the remaining associated parts or part subtypes.
This action is supported for single object only. You cannot remove associations from multiple objects at a time. The remove action is disabled for parts lists, index and table of contents. For additional information, see Impacted By Tab of Service Structures.
