Moving Groups from LDAP Server to Windchill Database
Starting with Windchill 12.0.1.0, the directory server is not bundled with the new Windchill deployment. If you are upgrading or updating to Windchill 12.0.2.0 release, all groups from default LDAP of the source is moved to Database. Manually created groups can be stored in the database or V3 compliant directory server of your choice. In this case, you have the option to move the groups from the earlier supported Windchill Directory Server to the Windchill database. The Participant Administration utility provides the action (Move Groups from Directory Server to Windchill) to move the selected groups to the Windchill database.
Group Migration from the LDAP to the Windchill Database
1. Open the Participant Administration utility in the site context from Site > Utilities.
2. Click Participant Administration from the Business Administration section.
3. In the Participant Administration page, click to add the existing participant objects (Groups) to the Participant Administration table.
4. The Participant Administration table displays Service attribute to denote the LDAP service or the database where the participant resides. This attribute value is auto displayed when you search for participant on the Find Participant picker and depends on the type of the participant selected. You may narrow down the search by selecting the Service attribute value from the list. For more information on Participant Administration, refer Using the Participant Administration Utility.
5. In the Group Name field, add a value to search for a group or groups. You may use* for search.
6. From the Search Results box, select the required group or groups to be moved, and then click Add. The selected groups are now added to the Participants List box. For more information on group search, refer Searching for Groups.
7. Click OK. The Find Participant dialog box closes.
8. In the Participant Administration page, select Move Groups from Directory Server to Windchill from Actions menu. An error is reported if you try to migrate an invalid participant to the database.
Invalid cases are:
A user or an organization participant type is selected for migration.
The participant already exists in the database.
The selected group select has a duplicate entry.
You do not have modify permission on the WTGroup objects.
The group is disconnected or disabled.
The selected group is currently stored in a read-only directory server.
9. Click OK on the confirmation dialog window when you are prompted for the confirmation to proceed with the migration.
10. To check the group migration status, select Quick Links > Event Management. For more information on Event Management, refer Event Management Utility. This page lists the groups that are successfully migrated, and provides the failure reasons for the groups that could not be moved.
