Manufacturing History Object
A manufacturing history object tracks the history of part usages without the need to revise the finished part. For example, a manufacturing history object can track the changes triggered on a Made From association, such as an addition or removal of a Made From part. Only one manufacturing history object is created when adding or updating multiple Made From parts under the same finished part. For more information on tracking changes on a Made From association, see Tracking Usage History of Made From Parts.
A manufacturing history object is added in the Resulting Objects table of the specified change task when the Track “Made From” History Through Change Notice preference is set to Yes. The table displays the icon for the manufacturing history object along with its number and version information. The name of the manufacturing history object is derived from a combination of the number, name, view, BOM type, and alternate BOM of the associated finished part.
*
The context of one of the associated Made From parts is assigned to the manufacturing history object. If the context of the Made From part is changed, the context assigned to the manufacturing history object does not change.
It is recommended to use effectivity on the manufacturing history object.
If you remove the manufacturing history object from the Resulting Objects table, the events associated with this object are removed from the Made From History table. The Made From association is also removed.
*
An error message is displayed in the following use cases:
The change notice you specified contains either none or more than one unresolved change task.
You specify a new change task in the configuration specification filter, but the Made From association is being tracked against a different change task that is not yet closed.
*
The manufacturing history object is automatically deleted in the following use cases:
If the specified change notice is deleted.
If the manufacturing history object is removed from the Resulting Objects table. The changes made on the Made From association are reversed.
If the associated finished part revision is deleted.
The access control rules for manufacturing history objects are updated for the following templates:
MPMLink General Product
MPMLink Product with Advanced Lifecycle Management
MPMLink General Library
MPMLink Library with Advanced Lifecycle Management
The access control rules are available by default for new installations of Windchill 12.0.2.0. However, when updating from Windchill 12.0.0.0. or Windchill 12.0.1.0. to Windchill 12.0.2.0, you need to manually apply the rules in the policy administrator to track the usage history of Made From parts.
