Automatic Merging of Effectivity Ranges
When you enter multiple ranges of dates in the Set Effectivity Range window, the effectivity ranges are automatically merged if the difference between the end date of range 1 and the start date of range 2 is:
Less than or equal to one minute, if effectivity date includes time stamp
or
Less than or equal to one day, if effectivity date does not include time stamp.
The following table explains the conditions given above.

If you enter more than 2 effectivity ranges, the merging conditions are evaluated between all the ranges in all possible combinations. For example, when you enter 3 ranges, if range 1 and range 3 meet the conditions, they are merged and range 2 is not merged.

The merging feature is enabled by default and cannot be disabled.
