Setting Workspace Refresh Performance Options
Setting the Featured Objects List as the Default
To set the featured object list as your default workspace view:
1. Navigate to the Preference Manager by selecting Quick Links > My Settings > Preferences
2. In the Find in tree field at the top of the Preference Management window, enter the preference name: Workspace Display.

3. Right-click on the preference and choose Set Preference.
The Set Preference window appears.
4. In the Set Preference window, change the value of the preference to: Featured objects
Your workspaces are set to use a featured objects list by default.
Setting the Top Level Objects List as the Default
To set the top level objects list as your default workspace view:
1. Navigate to the Preference Manager by selecting Quick Links > My Settings > Preferences
2. In the Find in tree field at the top of the Preference Management window, enter the preference name: Workspace Display.

3. Right-click on the preference and choose Set Preference.
The Set Preference window appears.
4. In the Set Preference window, change the value of the preference to: Top level objects
Your workspaces are set to use a top level objects list by default.
Setting Delayed Commonspace Updates Back to the Workspace
As an option, you can further improve workspace performance by choosing to delay and perform Windchill commonspace updates from the server back to your workspace and workspace cache in the background – when your client system is not busy.
To delay commonspace updates:
1. Navigate to the Preference Manager by selecting Quick Links > My Settings > Preferences.
2. In the Find in tree field at the top of the Preference Management window, enter the preference name: Update Commonspace Changes in Background.

3. Right-click on the preference and choose Set Preference.
The Set Preference window appears.
4. In the Set Preference window, change the value of the preference to: Yes
Commonspace updates are set to be delayed and performed in the background.

You can still request an immediate workspace update, if desired, by using the workspace action Tools > Synchronize.
