Performing a Search
You can access the search functionality by clicking the Search tab on the Creo Parametric or Windchill Workgroup Manager navigator pane. The navigator pane displays the most recently used of either the Search or the Advanced Search mode. If Advanced Search is displayed, click the Search link toward the bottom of the pane.

By default, the Windchill search in the embedded browser is available to search data. For more information see, Searching for Existing Data in Windchill. To search data using the Search tab, set the value of the preference hide.search.tab to No in the wgmclient.ini file.
To perform a basic search:
1. If you have already saved previous search criteria, select Customize from the search selection menu and click Go.
The Saved Searches window appears where you can select and/or manage previously saved searches. For more information, see Saving a Search and Managing Saved Searches.
2. Enter or select your search criteria in the following fields.
Search in—Select from Windchill contexts listed in the menu.
Search for—Select CAD models or specific file types from the menu.
File Name—Enter the name of the file.
Number—Enter the CAD document number for the object.
Keyword—Enter a keyword to search for.
Updated—Select Anytime or a more specific time period from the menu.
3. Click Search.
The system finds objects that meet all of your criteria.
Search characteristics
Summary search results are listed in a table at the bottom of the pane, showing Open in CAD Tool icon, CAD application file type icon, CAD document Name, CAD document version, and CAD document state.
Clicking the Open in CAD tool icon opens the model in its CAD application.
Clicking the CAD document Name link presents the details page for the CAD document in the content browser. On the information page are controls for you to checkout or download the CAD document.
Detailed search results are presented in a table in the content browser. The search results table displays columns for: file type icon, Number, Name, Context, State, and dates the object was Last Modified and Created On.
CAD documents may be directly checked out by selecting one or more objects from the search results list and selecting Check Out from the right-click menu. Clicking the number link in the Number column brings up the details page with more options for action on the object.
Clicking Clear removes your search criteria
Clicking Save this Search opens the Create Saved Search window where you can name and save your search criteria.
