Save to Workspace
This section describes the Save to Workspace action available fromAutoCAD.
Save to Workspace imports files from the local files system into the Workspace. This command is a simplified version of the ‘Import to Workspace” action available from the Workspace Tools and is intended to allow the user to import single files with a minimum number of steps without having to leave the AutoCAD environment. Only a single seed file may be selected for import. Multiple file selections are not supported (for multiple files use the browser based Import to Workspace which provides more options for importing multiple files). If the file has any XREFs, then these references will also be imported. If a file is active in session, then the Select file to Import UI will default to the file in session. You may browse the file system to select another file if desired.
Save to Workspace is supported on DWG, DWT and DXF files.
*
DXF files will import the seed file, but not the references.
The Save to Workspace is available from the AutoCAD command line by typing ACADADAPTER_SAVE_TO_WS.
*
The Save to Workspace command no longer includes a UI to select a file. The import is automatically performed on the active file with no prompt given to select a different file.
Handling of References to Files Outside the Workspace Local Directory
Whenever you insert a CAD part or assembly from the local system to the existing assembly, you will be given a warning message that “one or more files are being referenced from outside Workspace and those should be imported to Workspace”. The Workgroup Manager Message area lists the components referenced from outside the Workspace. Missing dependents will be created for the referenced components and will be treated like ghost objects. You then must import the referenced components to resolve them
