Configuring a CADDS 5 Non-English UNIX Worker to Run the FTP Daemon
*
For a complete description of how to configure the FTP server on both Windows and UNIX worker machines, see Guidelines for Configuring a Worker "Common File System".
When retrieving converted files from a remote CADDS 5 worker running on UNIX, the Worker Agent uses FTP for the retrieval of the output. The Worker Agent can have problems determining the correct file names if the file names are not in US/English locale and the Windchill server uses the US/English on Windows server.
In cases where the UNIX worker host is configured with a DBCS (European or Asian) locale, a zero (0) byte viewable on the Representation in Windchill can be created. For example, when a CADDS 5 worker is running on Japanese UNIX with Japanese FTP server, the Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5 cannot transfer converted CADDS 5 models from a Japanese FTP server and a zero (0) byte viewable can also result from an invalid file name provided to the FTP API.
There are special instructions located at Technical Application Note (TAN) #106245 to configure a worker on a UNIX platform when a non-US/English UNIX locale is involved in order to reduce the likelihood of FTP file transfer issues occurring.
